Description
Job Title: Medical ICU (MICU) Registered Nurse
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks (03/22/2026 – 06/20/2026)
Shift: 12-Hour Night Shift (19:00 – 07:30) | 36 Hours Per Week
Job Summary
A premier Level 1 Trauma Center and a designated Center of Excellence for Stroke, Burn, and Transplant care. The Medical ICU (MICU) handles the highest acuity medical cases in the region. As an ELSO-certified center, the unit is equipped for advanced life support, including ECMO. We are looking for a seasoned ICU nurse who thrives in a high-stakes, fast-paced academic and tertiary environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Advanced Life Support: Manage critically ill patients with complex multisystem organ failure, severe sepsis, and respiratory failure.
- Hemodynamic Monitoring: Titrate multiple high-acuity vasoactive drips and monitor invasive lines (Arterial lines, Swans, CVPs).
- Specialized Care: Support patients within a facility that specializes in Transplants, Burns, and Comprehensive Stroke interventions.
- Critical Thinking: Maintain a standard 2:1 or 1:1 patient ratio based on acuity, ensuring rapid intervention during clinical changes.
- Documentation: Utilize the Sunrise clinical charting system.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of ICU experience is generally required.
- Note: Management has specifically requested Level 1 Trauma Center experience and is currently reviewing if 1.5 years is sufficient for this high-acuity unit.
- Licensure: Active Indiana State RN License or Multi-State Compact License.
- Certifications:
- BLS (AHA) – Required.
- ACLS (AHA) – Required.
- Skill Set: Proficiency in titrating paralytics, sedatives, and pressors. Experience with CRRT or ECMO is a significant advantage given the ELSO certification.
Unit & Facility Details
- Setting: Level 1 Trauma Center / Stroke Center of Excellence.
- Staffing: Every other weekend rotation; holidays as per unit need.
- Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs.
- Location: Indianapolis, IN 46260.
