Department: ICU | RN - # of Beds: 5 rooms usually only use 4 rooms. The 5th room is used for afterhours recovery from OR. Average daily census is generally 1. - Nurse: Patient Ratios: 1:02. Staff 2 RNs- charge is included in this number. - Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS - Common diagnoses: Medical management patients, basic surgeries- Appy's, choles, SBO; Abib, CHF, pneumonia, ETOH, minimal diabetics needing insulin drips. No Peds in the ICU. - Experience: 2 years of ICU experience, ok with first time traveler. - Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes - Common titratable or set rate drips: Amigo, Cardizem, precede, leva, insulin. - Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift: Yes- charge will take patients. - Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit: No - Hospitalist in house 24/7: Hospitalist in house 24/7. - RT in ICU 24/7: 1 RT for entire hospital. - RT Equipment: Vents, CPAP, BiPAP rarely get a vented patient. - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit: RNs read and interpret their own strips. - Shifts & Scheduling: 6:00-6:30. Self-scheduling- can put what their ideal schedule is but schedule will not be finalized until manager balances. - Weekend Requirements: Every other. - Holiday Requirements: 2 major. - Floating Requirements: Yes- either to Medsurg and ED to help out. May float to PACU to recover if needed- rarely happens. - Scrub Color: No specific color as long as clean and professional. - How many shifts of unit specific orientation: Yes 1-2 days on unit.
