Position Summary:

The Surgical Technician/Tissue Processing Technician is responsible for preparing and maintaining a safe and sterile surgical environment. This role supports surgeons and the surgical team by arranging equipment, maintaining sterility, and assisting intraoperatively to ensure all surgical devices and supplies function properly.

Location: Bridgeport, CT
Contract Length: 52 weeks 
Department: Operating Room (OR)
Shift: 4x10's - 40 hours/week

• Standard: 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
• Occasional weekends and on-call required

Pay:
Local: $50/hr
Travel: $2300/week 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Prepare and set up operating rooms, equipment, and instruments according to surgical requirements.
• Assist surgical team with patient positioning on the operating table.
• Perform surgical scrubbing procedures and don appropriate sterile gown and gloves.
• Assist team members with donning sterile gowns and gloves.
• Maintain a supply of essential surgical fluids, including plasma, saline, blood, and glucose.
• Hand instruments and supplies to the surgeon and perform intraoperative tasks such as holding retractors and cutting sutures.
• Apply post-operative dressings to patients following surgical procedures.
• Conduct sponge, needle, and instrument counts before and after surgery.
• Clean, wash, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment using appropriate sterilization methods.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the operating room.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• Active certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) by NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery (TS-C) by NCCT (required).
• Minimum 3 years of Surgical Technician experience required for this assignment.
• Travel experience required.
• Strong experience required in:
  • Total Joint procedures
  • Spine procedures
  • Robotics — DaVinci experience required
• Must meet all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
• Successful completion of new-hire and site-specific training.
• Knowledge of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
• Strong communication skills and proficiency in English.
• Computer proficiency required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
