Job Title

Registered Nurse - Interventional Radiology (Nursing)

 

Travel experience required***

Reporting to the IR Section Leader, the Radiology Staff Nurse will provide quality-nursing care to both in and out patients in the department or radiology including pediatric, adult, elderly, acutely and chronically ill/patients. The Radiology Nurse must be prepared to handle all unexpected emergencies that occur during any radiological procedure. The nurse ensures patient privacy, dignity and safety.

7:30a-6:00pm
4x10s
Mon-Fri-variability with day off - Holidays required and weekends as needed
Rotating call: M-F 6p-11p, Sat/Sun 7a-11p

Certifications:
BLS & ACLS required
MA RN License

Experience:
3 to 5 years of nursing experience
Critical care experience

Job Functions:
1.Complies with policies and procedures providing optimum patient care utilizing the nursing process.
2.Prioritizes patient needs and functions as patient advocate.
3.Assesses the biological, psychological, sociological, and cultural needs of the patient and the family. Assesses and monitors patient condition including vital sign monitoring and recognition of electrocardiogram changes, and initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
4.Recognizes, documents, and assists in the treatment of contrast reactions.
5.Intervenes in emergency situations.
6.Assists radiologists with special procedures and treatments that require professional nursing skills.
7.Administers conscious sedation and monitors patients as appropriate.
8.Assesses need for and administers other medication as appropriate.
9.Provides continuity of care for the critically ill patient.
10.Demonstrates skill in using special equipment such as monitors infusion pumps, 02 equipment, ventilators, etc.
11.Documents patient status and nursing interventions.
12.Complies with patient identification protocol.
13.Demonstrates ability to prioritize nursing responsibilities within the department.
14.Provides health teaching and procedural information to patients and families

Has knowledge of all areas of nursing practice.
Demonstrates mature judgment, initiative, and proficiency in nursing skills.
Is able to work without direct supervision.
Shows professional interest through self-development, continuing education, and involvement in professional organizations.
Is knowledgeable in physical assessment, aseptic techniques, IV skills, and universal precautions.
Excellent customer service skills.
Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
Computer skills required.
Ability to maintain confidential information.
