Emergency Department RN – Nights – 13 Weeks

Start Date: 03/09/2026   Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM Location: Corpus Christi, TX 78412

Position Overview

A busy 16‑bed Emergency Department with 8 additional hall chairs is seeking an experienced ED RN for night‑shift coverage. This fast‑paced, team‑driven unit values compassion, urgency, and collaboration. The facility is actively transitioning from a Level IV to a Level II Trauma Center, offering a dynamic environment for skilled travelers.

Unit Details

• Beds: 16 + 8 hall chairs
• Staff per shift: 6–7
• Day Shift: 1 charge, 1 triage, 4–5 RNs (one mid‑shift), 1 US, 1–2 techs
• Night Shift: 1 charge, 1 triage, 4–5 RNs (one mid‑shift), US (7p–midnight), 1 tech
• Ratios: 1:4; low‑acuity ESI 4–5 may take up to 6
• Equipment: Cardiac monitors, Baxter IV pumps, HPs, Tonopen, and more
• EMR: Meditech (vitals auto‑flow into chart)

Requirements

Experience

• Level II or Level III trauma experience required
• Minimum 1 year ED RN experience

Certifications (Required)

• AHA BLS
• AHA ACLS
• PALS or ENPC
• TNCC

Preferred

• CEN or TCRN
• CPI
• 2+ years ED experience

Typical Procedures

• Assessments & documentation
• Medication administration
• Wound care & splinting
• IV starts
• Urine collection & lab draws
• Care for ESI levels 1–5

Culture & Expectations

• Compassion, urgency, and teamwork are essential
• Mandatory shift huddle at 7 AM & 7 PM (unless providing critical care)
• EMTALA training required
• Known for improving patient satisfaction and employee engagement
• Strong performance in Stroke, STEMI, Sepsis, and Trauma care
