Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Bozeman, MT
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks (Tentative Start: ASAP)
Shift: Night Shift | 36 Hours Per Week
On-Call: 1 shift every 2 weeks; varying weekend rotation
Job Summary
A versatile Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide comprehensive cardiopulmonary care across the lifespan—from neonates in the NICU to geriatric patients. This role is based at Deaconess Hospital, a Level 3 Trauma Center known for its high standards of care and beautiful mountain setting. You will act as a clinical resource, managing ventilators, administering medications, and performing critical diagnostic procedures in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Advanced Airway Management: Set up, monitor, and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators; manage artificial airways and perform endotracheal suctioning.
- Neonatal & Pediatric Care: Provide specialized respiratory support for neonates (NRP required) and pediatric patients, including oxygen delivery and nebulized treatments.
- Diagnostics: Perform arterial punctures for Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) analysis; interpret results to assist in clinical decision-making.
- Emergency Response: Participate in Rapid Response and Code Blue teams; utilize ACLS, PALS, and NRP protocols as needed.
- Patient Education: Formulate and execute teaching plans for patients and families regarding chronic disease management (COPD, Asthma) and home equipment.
- Documentation: Maintain precise records using the Epic EMR system.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of RRT experience.
- Licensure: Active Montana State Respiratory Care Practitioner License.
- Certifications:
- RRT (NBRC) – Required.
- BLS (AHA) – Required.
- ACLS, PALS, & NRP (AHA) – Required (must be obtained within 3 months if not current).
- Preferred: Neonatal-Pediatric Specialist (NPS) or Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS) credentials.
- Physical Ability: Must be able to lift 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
Unit & Facility Details
- Trauma Level: Level 3.
- EMR: Epic.
- Census Flexibility: The facility reserves the right to cancel up to three (3) shifts per 13-week contract due to low census.
- Radius Rule: Candidates must live at least 90 miles away from the facility to be considered for travel rates.

- Shift Details: 12-hour nights; expected to work holidays and varying weekends.
