Job Title: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

Location: Des Moines, Iowa

Contract Length: 13 Weeks 
Shift: Nights – Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Schedule: 3 x 12-hour shifts (36 hours per week)
On-Call: None
Holiday Rotation: As scheduled
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
EMR: EPIC

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The RN will provide critical care to infants, children, and adolescents in a 12-bed, private-room PICU setting.

Candidates must be comfortable floating to NICU and ED patient holds when required.

Department Overview

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 12-bed, all-private-room unit staffed by pediatric critical care physicians. The unit provides care for critically ill or injured infants, children, and teens.

The facility includes:

• 12 single patient rooms with private bathrooms and showers
• Family consultation room
• Family lounge with kitchenette and seating
• State-of-the-art ceiling boom equipment
• Patient and family-centered environment with pull-out beds and reclining chairs
• Advanced monitoring systems for rapid response care

The Pediatric Transport Team provides critical care access throughout the state under physician medical direction.

Floating Requirements

• Must be willing to float to NICU
  • NICU assignments include feeders and growers
  • May care for infants on oxygen or antibiotics
  • Will not be assigned the highest acuity neonates
• May float to ED patient holds as needed

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of recent PICU experience (within current work history)
• Pediatric Intensive Care Unit experience required
• Willingness to float to NICU and ED holds
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Active Iowa RN License or Compact/Multistate License at time of submission
• BLS (AHA or ARC)
• ACLS (AHA or ARC)
• PALS (AHA)
