Description

Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist (CVOR)
Location: Johnson City, NY
Assignment Length: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Day Rotation (Monday–Friday) – 40 hours/week

Typical start time between 6:00 AM – 7:00 AM
5x8s or 4x10s
Call Requirement: Up to 3 call shifts per week (8–16 hours)
One working weekend every 4 weeks (with call shift)

Key Responsibilities

Demonstrate expertise in surgical scrub technique and adhere to infection control policies
Maintain sterile technique preoperatively and intraoperatively
Assist with gowning, gloving, draping, and passing instruments during procedures
Anticipate surgeon needs for instruments, sutures, and equipment
Maintain an organized sterile field and accurate counts (sponges, needles, instruments, etc.)
Prepare cases per preference cards and ensure proper equipment functionality
Identify and communicate potential OR hazards (equipment, chemicals, gases)
Assist with suturing, retracting, and suctioning under surgeon direction
Handle and identify specimens per policy
Support efficient OR turnover between cases
Participate in rotating call schedule
Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Experience & Certifications

CVOR experience required
Cardiothoracic experience required, including:
- CABG
- Valve replacements
- VATS
- Robotic chest procedures
Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) required
BLS certification required
