Position Summary
Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive obstetric care in a rural hospital setting. The RN will support patients across the full continuum of maternal-newborn care including antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn nursery.
This role requires strong clinical skills, independence, and the ability to manage multiple phases of obstetric care in a lower-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care for antepartum, labor & delivery, postpartum, and newborn nursery patients
- Perform patient assessments, monitoring, and documentation throughout all stages of care
- Assist with deliveries and provide postpartum maternal and newborn care
- Support newborn stabilization and routine nursery care
- Serve as OB circulator when needed (preferred experience)
- Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families on maternal and newborn care
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow facility protocols
Schedule
- Day shift
- Holiday coverage required
Requirements
- Active RN license in good standing (state of practice)
- Minimum 2 years obstetric nursing experience
- Ability to independently manage multiple OB care phases
- Experience in rural or low-volume delivery settings preferred
- OB circulator experience preferred
Certifications (Required)
- BLS / BCLS
- ACLS
- NRP
- STABLE
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
Preferred / Additional Certifications
- PALS
- AWHONN certifications
- TNCC
- ENPC
- NIHSS
- Other specialty OB or emergency certifications may be accepted
Additional Information
- Approximately 20–30 deliveries per month
- Must be comfortable working across the full OB spectrum
- EMR experience preferred
- Orientation provided
Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications and hold the required certifications to be eligible for application.
