Job Title: RN – Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (CVU)
Job Type: Contract
Position Urgency: Normal
Position Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse to join a Cardiac Progressive Care Unit providing care to patients requiring telemetry monitoring and step-down level services. The unit supports patients with cardiac and complex medical conditions who require a higher level of observation and nursing care than general acute care.
Candidates must obtain an active Hawaii nursing license upon offer acceptance and hold the license prior to assignment start.
Unit Overview
- Progressive Care Unit with step-down capability
- 33-bed unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- Progressive Care: 1:4
- Step-down level: 1:3
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver primary nursing care for progressive care and step-down patients
- Perform telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Monitor vital signs and perform fingerstick blood glucose testing
- Administer medications and treatments per protocol
- Utilize continuous cardiac monitoring and respiratory support equipment (e.g., BiPAP)
- Document patient care using electronic medical records
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patient outcomes
- Float to other acute care units as needed
Schedule
- Varied shifts
- Orientation week scheduled at full-time hours, followed by approximately 36 hours per week
- No on-call requirement
- Holiday coverage required
- No guarantee of hours or shift preference
Requirements
- Active RN license (Hawaii license required prior to start; must apply upon acceptance if not currently active)
- Minimum 1 year recent acute care hospital experience (within the last year)
- Progressive care and telemetry experience preferred
- Ability to float to other acute care units including medical, surgical/pediatrics, ICU, and emergency
Certifications (Required)
- BLS / BCLS
- ACLS

- Pyxis medication system
- Continuous cardiac monitoring
- BiPAP
