Description

Unit Information

Unit: CVOR
Requirement: Must Scrub
Shift: 8-hour shifts
Call: Required (if cases run long)
Schedules: Posted for two pay periods
Not scheduled every other weekend; scheduled as needed
Must cover 3 weekend shifts per month (1½ weekends)
Number of Suites: 4

Requirements

Certifications: BLS
Experience: Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience
First-time travelers accepted
EMR: Cerner
Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips

Unit Details

Surgeries per Day: 4–6
Common Cases: CABG, valves, and all heart surgeries (no thoracic cases)
Charge Nurse: Oversees entire OR
Nurse Aides: CSTs
Tele: Yes
Vents: Yes (not required)
Surgeon Availability: 24/7 (regular hours + overnight/weekend call)
IV Team: No
Respiratory Therapy (RT): 24/7
Pharmacy: 24/7

Weekend & Call Requirements

No regular weekend requirement
1 weekend call per month
Overnight call once per week
Must cover 3 weekend days per month

Orientation

1–2 days in OR with preceptor

Additional Notes

Must have strong CVOR experience
Must be confident in skills
