Shift & Schedule

• 48 Hours Variable
• Mostly 0700–1930
• May include 0600–1530 or 1400–2330 as needed
• ASAP start needed
• Weekend rotation: Every other (Sat/Sun)
• No call
• OT available
• Holiday rotation required
• Guaranteed Hours: 48

• Beds: 94 total
  • Pediatrics: 50 beds
  • Adults: 44 beds
• Free-standing acute inpatient facility
• Contracted ER 5 minutes away
• All patients come from ED and are medically cleared
• Locked facility (no forensic patients or inmates)
• Free parking
• Heavy snow conditions expected in winter

Patient Population

Pediatrics (Ages 5–18)

• Eating Disorders
• Depression
• Suicidal Ideation
• Anxiety
• Schizophrenia
• Bipolar Disorder
• Oppositional Defiant Disorder
• Gender Dysphoria

Adults (18+ to Geriatric)

• Schizophrenia
• MDD
• Bipolar Disorder
• Eating Disorders
• Suicidal Ideation
• Anxiety
• Occasional Substance Use Disorder or detox (CIWA) – must be medically cleared
• Seclusion rooms used when necessary
• Traditional medical and psychiatric care plus therapies (pet therapy, groups, community gardens)

Experience & Requirements

• Minimum 1 year Behavioral Health nursing required
• Pediatric BH experience preferred (send to manager if no peds experience)
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must be willing to float between Adults and Pediatrics
• ME State License required
• Required Certification: BLS
• MOAB obtained onsite during orientation

Skills Required

• De-escalation experience
• Experience with physical restraints (no chemical restraints used)
• Medication administration
• Comfortable running groups
• Documentation

Staffing & Ratios

RN Ratios

• Days: 1:5–6
• Nights: 1:13 with resource support

Psych Tech Support

• Peds: 6 day / 2 night
• Adults: 2 day / 2 night
• Nurse Supervisor (evenings/weekends)
• Nurse Manager (days)
• House Administrator (overnight/weekends)
• Charge nurse may have patient assignment
• Contracted phlebotomist
• Nurse Practitioner onsite until 1600, on call overnight
• Psychiatrist daily rounds & on call 0000–0600
• Occupational Therapist 0800–1630, 7 days/week
• Security onsite (staff respond to patient escalations)

Floating & Orientation

• Floating is required between all Adult and Peds units
• If not comfortable floating to Peds, request manager approval
• Orientation:
  • Week 1 (Mon–Fri) on Days
  • Week 2: 12-hour shifts on contracted schedule

Scheduling Notes

• Block scheduling not guaranteed
• Up to 7 days RTO (must extend if unable to work all shifts within week)
