Description
- Pass/Fail exam on Friday during orientation. OPEN BOOK exam on skills learned - they are given all necessary resources to pass. Must receive a 90% to pass or they will be terminated * *
Department: Medical Surgical Cardiac ICU
*Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS* we do ICPs and occasional balloon pumps. We don't necessarily have to assign those to a traveler
- # of Beds: 16
- Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:2 with occasional 1:1
- TPA, balloon pump, recovery of crani
- Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Young adults through geriatrics, sepsis, STEMI, COVID, stroke, neurosurgery, renal failure, respiratory failure, COPD, cancer, DKA Gaymar Hypothermia, Arrow Balloon Pump, Camino Neuro monitoring, CRRT, Impella, EVDs, Lumbar drains
- Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Sedation, paralytics, pressors, antihypertensives, heparin, insulin
- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes
- Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes- 1:10
- RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: Nasal cannula to vent - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: RNs required to read and interpret
- Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 0630-1900, 1830-0700 // Unit schedulers will make schedule
- Weekend Requirements: Every other - Holiday Requirements: As needed
- Floating Requirements: Mainly to PCU but can go to all areas in the hospital depending on abilities
- Scrub Color/Dress Code: RN: Navy Blue
- How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 2 shifts
- Additional Notes: Fast paced, have an eICU remote monitoring system, This unit focuses on bedside shift report, intentional hourly rounding. Looking for highly motivated nurses that are able to critically think through complex situations. The right candidate does not have to be competent in all areas of ICU but needs to be ready and willing to ask questions, seek out resources, and be open to learning new things. The community is culturally diverse and encompasses nationalities that do not speak English including both Hispanics and Sudanese. The idea employee will be able to embrace these difference and provide the highest quality of care while ensuring an excellent patient experience to everyone seeking our services. Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidate may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions
