American Consultants is looking for a Travel OR nurse for a contract about an hour outside of Council Bluffs, IA/Omaha, NE. Shift is 6am-3pm Mon-Friday.

Pay Package

Taxable $36/hour ($1440.00)

Tax Free- $1246.00/week

Total- $2686.00/week

Job Summary

The Surgery Registered Nurse (OR RN) provides professional nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role involves preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care, ensuring patient safety, maintaining sterile technique, collaborating with the surgical team, and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities

Preoperative Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments prior to surgery.
• Verify patient identity, procedure, and surgical site.
• Review medical history, allergies, lab results, and consent forms.
• Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures and postoperative expectations.
• Prepare the operating room with necessary equipment and supplies.

Intraoperative Responsibilities

• Maintain sterile technique and infection control standards.
• Serve as circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse as assigned.
• Assist surgeons and surgical technologists during procedures.
• Monitor patient vital signs and overall condition.
• Document intraoperative care accurately and in real time.
• Advocate for patient safety and ensure compliance with surgical safety protocols.

Postoperative Responsibilities

• Transfer patients safely to the recovery room (PACU).
• Communicate patient status and surgical details to PACU staff.
• Monitor for complications and provide immediate intervention if needed.
• Provide postoperative instructions and education as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred or required depending on facility).
• Minimum of 1 year of operating room experience (preferred; new grads may be considered in some settings).
