Description

Position: Nurse Manager- ICU
Location: Bakersfield, CA

Unit: ICU/CVICU/Neuro ICU
Unit Type: Critical Care / Leadership
Division: Nursing Management
Care Setting: Acute Care
Shift Length: 12 hours
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (3x12s)

Years of Experience Required: 5 years total (with a minimum of 2 years in management)
License to Submit: Yes (Active CA RN License required)
BSN Required: Preferred (Not required but strongly preferred)

Required Certifications:

BLS Certification (AHA)
ACLS Certification (AHA)
NIHSS Certification
(CCRN Preferred)

Shift Details:

3x12's Days.

Unit Details:

Bed Count: 24 beds (with capacity to go up to 32 beds)
Sub-Units: 8-bed ICU/CVICU & 8-bed Neuro ICU
Nurse Ratios: 1:1 – 1:2

Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients:

Respiratory failure
Sepsis
AMI (Acute Myocardial Infarction)
ARDS
GI Bleed
Renal failure (requiring CRRT)
CABG (fresh post-operative hearts cared for by trained staff)
TAVR
Impella
Vascular surgeries
Neuro surgeries
Ischemic strokes (requiring TNK & thrombectomies)
SAH (requiring EVDs/ICP monitoring)

First-Time Travelers: Not accepted.

Attention to Detail: Must demonstrate meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of unit operations and patient care oversight. Strong Organizational Skills: Manages competing priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment. Keeps meetings, action items, and deadlines organized and documented. Proficiency in Spreadsheets and Data Management: Demonstrates working knowledge of spreadsheet tools, tracking dashboards, and basic data analysis. Presents data in a clear, actionable format for leadership review. Accountability and Follow-Through: Tracks commitments to completion and holds self and others accountable. Closes the loop with stakeholders to confirm resolution and outcomes. Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Makes timely, well-informed decisions using available data and clinical/operational context. Escalates appropriately when issues exceed scope of authority. Demonstrates sound judgment under pressure.
