Description

RNFA – Registered Nurse First Assistant

📍 Peoria, Illinois
🏥 SFMC – Surgery (General – Major)
🕒 Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM | 40 Hours Guaranteed

We are seeking an experienced RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assistant) for a General Surgery OR position in an acute care setting in Peoria, IL.

Position Details:

Unit: OR – General (Major) Surgery
Shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Guaranteed: 40 hours per week
Call required (based on physician needs; may cover evening cases)
No weekend or holiday call
30-minute call response time
Scrubs provided
No floating required
Unit-based orientation

Department Overview:

31 OR suites across two buildings
15 dedicated General Surgery rooms
40–60 General Surgery cases per day
Reports to Charge Nurse
Surgical Technologists assigned to General Surgery
EMR: Epic (OpTime)

Common Cases:

Robotic colon procedures
Hernia repairs
Gastric sleeves & gastric bypass
Cholecystectomies

Requirements:

Active RN license (willing to wait upon submission)
First Assistant certification required
BLS certification
Minimum 2 years of RNFA experience
Robotic and open surgery experience required
Experience firing staplers required
Scrubbing and assisting surgeon required
