Job Description: Travel RN – MS/Tele Stroke (5N)
Location: Tuscaloosa, AL
Facility: DCH Health System
Weekly Gross Pay: $2,184.44
Hours: 36 or 48 hours/week
Shift: Variable; holidays as required; every other weekend
Floating: Must be willing to float to other units and hospitals
Overview
DCH is seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse to join the MS/Tele Stroke 5N Unit, a specialized 42‑bed Heart Failure / Stroke floor caring for patients with both neurological and cardiac conditions. This team manages complex neuro‑cardiac cases including congestive heart failure, acute stroke, and telemetry-monitored medical conditions. Nurses on this unit work closely with neurologists and cardiologists, maintaining best‑practice standards and delivering high‑acuity, evidence‑based care.

Unit Details
- Unit: MS/Tele Stroke – 5N
- Beds: 42
- Ratio: 1:6
- Patient Mix:
- Heart Failure
- Acute Stroke
- Telemetry/Neuro monitored patients
- Complex neuro‑cardiac cases
- Environment: Highly skilled, team‑based, compassionate care
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients with stroke, neuro, telemetry, and cardiac conditions.
- Monitor telemetry, perform neuro assessments, and manage heart‑failure patients.
- Collaborate with cardiology and neurology providers to execute care plans.
- Float to other units or hospitals within the system as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold facility safety and compliance standards.
- Work required holidays and every other weekend as scheduled.
Requirements
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
Licensure
- Active Alabama RN license or Compact RN license valid for AL.
- No temporary licenses accepted.
- Must be verifiable in NURSYS.
Certifications (Required)
- AHA BLS
- AHA ACLS
- NIHSS (Stroke Scale) or Red Cross equivalent
Experience
- 2 years of RN experience preferred
- Will consider 18+ months of experience with at least 1 year in MS/Tele/Neuro/Stroke specialty
Employment Details
