Shift: Monday–Friday, 05:00–13:30
Call: Stay late 1–2 times/week

⭐ Position Overview

Mission Hospital is seeking an experienced Travel Cardiovascular PreOp Registered Nurse (CV PreOp RN) to join the perioperative team within The Heart Tower. This fast‑paced, high‑acuity unit prepares cardiovascular surgery patients for the OR, requiring strong critical care skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently.

This role is ideal for nurses with critical care, CVOR, or high‑acuity PreOp experience who thrive in a collaborative, detail‑oriented surgical environment.

🏥 Unit Details

• Beds: 4
• Patient Ratio: 1:1
• Team Structure: RNs supported by CNC, secretary, manager; shared support with CVOR
• Equipment: GE Carescape monitors, Fuji ultrasound
• Charting System: Cerner

🩺 Key Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive cardiovascular pre‑operative assessments
• Start large‑bore IVs; perform chin‑to‑toe surgical hair removal
• Administer medications and perform detailed skin assessments
• Assist with arterial line, central line, and epidural placements
• Transport patients to OR; assist with induction, intubation, positioning, and skin prep
• Collaborate with anesthesiology, CVOR teams, and cardiovascular specialists
• Maintain excellent documentation and safe hand‑off communication
• Provide high‑level, compassionate care in a high‑acuity cardiac environment

🎓 Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Active RN license – Alabama Compact NOT required for this job; must meet NC requirements
• Certifications Required:
  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS

• Critical care experience (required)
• PreOp or CVOR background (preferred)
• Strong BCMA skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑moving surgical setting
• Excellent interdepartmental communication
