Description

Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional nursing care to patients in labor, delivery, postpartum, and gynecological surgical settings.
  • Monitor fetal vital signs using fetal monitors and other equipment; respond promptly to any abnormalities.
  • Assist with high-risk and standard deliveries, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Deliver postpartum care for mothers and newborns, including assessment, education, and support.
  • Support gynecological postoperative patients following surgeries such as hysterectomies or other procedures.
  • Operate and troubleshoot medical equipment including fetal monitors, suction devices, oxygen supplies, and OBIX documentation systems.
  • Document patient care accurately within electronic health record systems such as EPIC.
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, including NICU and nursery staff, when float to these units is required.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Gynecology care.
  • Certifications: CPR/BLS, ACLS, and NRP are mandatory; STABLE preferred but not required.
  • Ability and willingness to float to Nursery and NICU units as needed.
  • Flexibility to work 12-hour night shifts, with some day shifts and weekends required.
  • Must badge in and out at the facility; compliance with facility dress code (navy blue scrubs) is required.
  • Additional qualifications include proficiency with fetal monitoring, OBIX documentation, and centralized monitoring systems.
  • If previously employed by Sanford Health, candidates must have an end date on record at least 6 months prior to submission.

Schedule and Work Environment:

  • Shift: 12-hour night shifts with some daytime scheduled shifts.
  • Duration and hours: 36 hours orientation for travelers, with ongoing support.
  • Facility includes 19 patient rooms; nurse-to-patient ratio approximately 1:1 or 1:2 for L&D, 1:3 for mother/baby couplets, and 1:4 for gynecology patients.
  • The unit is equipped with modern technology including fetal monitors, OBIX, and computerized charting systems.

Additional Details:

  • This position does not accept local travelers with permanent addresses within 80 miles of the facility.
  • The unit provides comprehensive orientation and training to ensure nurses are fully prepared to deliver high-quality care.
$2650 includes taxable hourly rate plus meals and lodging stipend. IDEAL JOB ID: 1064729
