Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Surgical Technician (CST) to join our Operating Room team. In this role, you will assist surgeons and the healthcare team during the intra-operative period, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
The primary focus of this position is preparation and handling of surgical instruments and equipment, maintaining sterile technique, and providing direct assistance to the surgeon during procedures. The patient population ranges from neonate through geriatric.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain strict aseptic technique to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Prepare, handle, and maintain surgical instrumentation and equipment
- Assist surgeons during surgical procedures
- Perform accurate sponge, sharps, and instrument counts according to policy
- Anticipate surgical needs and respond promptly during urgent or emergent situations
- Apply knowledge of medical terminology, aseptic technique, and the metric system
- Prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Adhere to professional standards of surgical practice
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Surgical Technician experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Active CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification
- Current BLS Certification
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical instrumentation
- Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
