Job Title: Staff RN – Operating Room (OR)

Reporting Structure

• Directly reports to: OR Charge Nurse & Director of Surgical Services
• Indirectly reports to: House Supervisor

Primary Responsibility

Provide direct and indirect patient care in the peri-operative setting using the nursing process:

• Assessment
• Planning
• Implementation
• Evaluation

Patient Population

Responsible for caring for patients across all age groups:

• Neonates
• Pediatrics
• Adolescents
• Adults
• Older Adults

Key Duties & Responsibilities

🏥 Clinical Care

• Deliver safe, high-quality peri-operative nursing care.
• Coordinate patient care with:
  • Surgeon
  • Anesthesiologist
• Ensure adherence to professional nursing standards.

👩‍⚕️ Leadership & Supervision

• Direct and guide OR Technicians and other support staff.
• Act as a clinical resource for team members when needed.

🔄 Care Coordination

• Collaborate with other hospital departments.
• Support:
  • Continuum of care
  • Efficient patient flow
  • Unit organization & maintenance

📋 Compliance & Quality

• Follow hospital/unit policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Participate in:
  • Performance Improvement activities
  • Unit meetings
  • In-services / education sessions

On-Call Requirements

• Monday–Friday: 3:30 PM – 7:00 AM (when scheduled)
• Saturday–Sunday: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM (24-hour call, when scheduled)
