Respiratory Therapist (RT) – Contract Position

Shift: Days
Schedule: 3x12 (6:00 AM – 6:30 PM), every other weekend
Hours per Week: 36
Contract Length: 26 Weeks

Position Overview

The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory and pulmonary therapy, management, and rehabilitation under the supervision of a physician. The RT treats conditions affecting the pulmonary system and assists patients of all ages—from infants to the elderly—across multiple healthcare settings.

This assignment includes providing care in programs supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID/DD), including those requiring advanced, short‑term medical or behavioral support.

Core Responsibilities

• Deliver respiratory and pulmonary treatments according to physician orders.
• Perform frequent respiratory assessments and document findings.
• Conduct trach changes and ongoing respiratory maintenance.
• Utilize respiratory equipment, including LTV transport vents only (no full ventilators).
• Provide total/complete care to residents with complex needs.

Workload & Ratios:

• RT staffing: 2–3 RTs per shift
• Resident volume: Approximately 70 residents
• Daily frequency: 4–6 respiratory contacts per resident per day

Minimum Requirements:

• WI RT License
• Will accept RRT or CRT
• BLS
• One year of clinical respiratory therapy experience preferred
