Radiology Specialist Assistant

Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

The Radiology Specialist Assistant provides patient care services under the supervision of a physician, supporting radiologic procedures and ensuring high-quality patient care across the continuum of care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with radiologic and interventional procedures
• Perform patient assessments and prepare patients for imaging procedures
• Conduct fluoroscopic studies such as barium studies (upper GI, small bowel follow-through, enemas)
• Assist or perform joint injections, paracentesis, thoracentesis, and abscess drain placements using imaging guidance
• Assist with bone marrow biopsies and ultrasound/CT-guided biopsies
• Perform ultrasound-guided and stereotactic breast biopsies and marker clip placement
• Maintain patient flow and organize clinical workload effectively
• Educate patients on procedures and provide pre- and post-procedure instructions
• Maintain accurate documentation of procedures and patient outcomes
• Ensure compliance with radiation safety, infection control, and hospital policies
• Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and technologists to prepare procedure rooms and maintain equipment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or related field
• Graduate of an approved program recognized by the New York State Education Department
• Certification as Radiologist Assistant (RA) or Physician Assistant (PA) with radiology focus preferred

Certifications

• ARRT certification in Radiography required
• Additional certifications in CT, Ultrasound, or Interventional Radiology (RRA preferred)
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
