American Consultants is looking for an RRT for a contract in Shawnee Mission, KS. Must have NICU experience. This is a very busy hospital.

Pay Package:

Taxable : $30/hour ( $1080/week)

Tax Free: $1247/week

Total $2336/week

The Travel Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – NICU provides specialized respiratory care to neonates in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This role involves assessing, treating, and monitoring premature and critically ill newborns with respiratory disorders. The RRT collaborates with neonatologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal respiratory support and patient outcomes while adapting quickly to different clinical environments during travel assignments.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care to premature and critically ill neonates in the NICU.
• Assess neonatal patients and develop appropriate respiratory therapy plans.
• Initiate, monitor, and manage mechanical ventilation, CPAP, and high-frequency ventilation.
• Administer respiratory medications including bronchodilators, surfactants, and aerosol therapies.
• Perform arterial blood gas sampling and analysis.
• Assist with intubation and extubation procedures.
• Monitor oxygen therapy and maintain appropriate oxygenation and ventilation parameters.
• Respond to neonatal emergencies and resuscitations (NRP).
• Document patient assessments, treatments, and responses accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Educate parents and caregivers regarding respiratory treatments and equipment.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
• Follow hospital policies, infection control protocols, and safety standards.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through NBRC.
• Active state respiratory therapy license (or ability to obtain).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum 1–2 years of NICU respiratory therapy experience (travel experience preferred).
• Experience with neonatal ventilators and high-frequency ventilation systems.
