Travel Laboratory Scientist- Kansas

American Consultant is looking for a travel Lab Scientist for a facility in Shawnee Mission, KS. This is a very busy lab.

Schedule: 12 hour nights with a 6 nights on 8 nights off

Pay Package:

Taxable: $30/hour ($1080/week)

Tax Free; $1246/week

Total: $2326/week

Position Summary

The Travel Clinical Laboratory Scientist performs a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing, treating, and preventing disease. This role requires expertise in laboratory instrumentation, quality control, and specimen analysis across multiple laboratory departments such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood bank. The travel CLS works temporary assignments at healthcare facilities to support staffing needs while maintaining high standards of accuracy and patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex laboratory testing on blood, urine, and other body fluid specimens.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and automated analyzers.
• Analyze test results and ensure accuracy before reporting to physicians.
• Follow quality control and quality assurance protocols.
• Maintain compliance with laboratory safety procedures and regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, OSHA).
• Collect, process, and prepare patient specimens for testing.
• Document laboratory findings and maintain accurate records.
• Troubleshoot laboratory equipment and resolve technical issues.
• Assist in training new laboratory staff or students when needed.
• Adapt quickly to new laboratory environments and procedures during travel assignments.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field.
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist (MLS/MT) from an accredited organization such as:
  • ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology)
  • AMT (American Medical Technologists)
• Minimum 1–2 years of clinical laboratory experience.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
