Position Overview:
We are seeking a versatile and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Flex Pool team for a night shift assignment. The RN will float between various medical and surgical units, providing high-quality patient care across multiple departments as needed. This role requires adaptability, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to work effectively in different care environments.
Schedule & Shift Details:
- 12-hour night shifts: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Scheduled for 36 hours per week following the first week of orientation
- Holiday coverage required
- Hours are not guaranteed
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical and step-down patients
- Float between various units including medical, surgical acute, and cardiovascular units as needed
- Monitor patient conditions, administer medications, and implement care plans
- Utilize medical equipment including wound vacs and chest tubes
- Document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record system
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient outcomes
Patient Care Environment:
- Medical Unit: Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:6 (days/evenings) and 1:8 (nights)
- Surgical Acute Unit: Approximately 1:6 ratio
- Cardiovascular Unit: Approximately 1:4 ratio
- Ratios may vary depending on staffing needs
Equipment & Systems:
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
- Medication dispensing systems (Pyxis)
- Wound vac therapy devices
- Chest tube management systems
Qualifications:
- Active Hawaii RN license required by the start of assignment
- Travelers without an active HI license must apply upon acceptance of the offer
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in acute care settings
- Current BLS/BCLS certification
- ACLS certification required
- Preferred certifications: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC
Additional Requirements:
- Proof of immunity documentation required (medical or religious exemptions not accepted in lieu of immunity documentation)
- Must arrive the Thursday prior to the start date for employee health clearance on Friday
- Professional nursing attire required (clean scrubs)
