General Unit Details

• Total Hospital Beds: 457
• Operating Rooms: 14
  • 1 dedicated Open Heart room (expanding to 2)
• Unit Staffing: 8 team members
  • 4 Registered Nurses
  • 4 Surgical Technologists
• Shift Structure:
  • Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, with call coverage after 3 PM and on weekends
  • Night Shift: Call coverage only
• Patient Ratio: 1:1
• Equipment: Standard OR equipment
• EMR System: Meditech

Must‑Have Qualifications

Candidates must have the following to be considered:

• Open Heart experience
• Cardiothoracic service line experience
• Active TX RN Licensure or Compact RN Licensure

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with these skills will be prioritized:

• Experience in additional OR service lines, including Trauma, General Surgery, Gynecology, Urology, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Plastics, etc. Note: Staff may float to other ORs when no open‑heart cases are scheduled.

Typical Procedures

• CABG (with and without EVH)
• Impella placement
• Pericardial window procedures
• Valve replacements
• ECMO

• Flexible and adaptable to changing case needs

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS

Floating Expectations

• Floating within the Operating Room as needed
