Care Setting: Acute Care

Contract Length: 13 Weeks
 

Shift: 12-Hour Rotating Day/Night

Day: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Night: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week

Requirements

Candidates must have:

Active Michigan RN License

Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA

Minimum 1 year Med-Surg or Med-Tele experience in acute care

Preferred:

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Experience with TURP / CBI

Experience in Critical Access or Trauma Level 3 or 4 hospitals

Unit Information

Trauma Level: IV

Beds: 24 inpatient beds

May have 10 observation/day surgery patients

Common Diagnoses:

Pneumonia

Cellulitis

UTI

COPD

Sepsis

Pacemaker patients

Post-surgical patients (hips, knees, gallbladder, appendectomy)

Nurse Staffing

Day Ratio: 1:5

Night Ratio: 1:6

Team nursing with LPNs (2 nurses for 7 patients)

Charge Nurse: Takes an assignment
Nurse Aides: Available

Additional Unit Details

Hospitalist available until 6 PM, then telemedicine coverage

Respiratory Therapy available 24/7

CPAP equipment available

Telemetry monitoring done in ICU daily

Scheduling Requirements

Every other weekend required

Holiday rotation (2 out of 3 holidays)

Must be able to float to similar units

Orientation

Day 1: 8 hours computer training + 4 hours shadowing

Day 2: 12-hour orientation shift

Day 3: Independent shift

Ended employment at least 6 months before submission

Pay Package (48 Hours Weekly)
