Unit Overview

• Unit Name: 8 Franklin
• Type: Adult (18+) acute inpatient psychiatric unit
• Beds: 27
• Patient Admission: From CPEP or Concourse ER, typically 24–72 hours after medical clearance
• Patient Population:
  • Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorders
  • Dual Diagnosis (mental illness with chemical abuse)
  • Adults with Autism Spectrum/Intellectual Disabilities

• Model of Care: Multi-disciplinary team approach including:

Role Summary

BronxCare is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager with direct experience managing adult psychiatric inpatient units. The ideal candidate will:

• Sustain an environment of excellence in patient and family service
• Foster growth and development of nursing staff
• Apply and promote evidence-based practice

Key Responsibilities

• Promote BronxCare’s mission, vision, and values
• Conduct rounds and assess patient care needs on the unit
• Develop and implement staffing plans based on patient acuity, census, and staff availability
• Serve as a clinical resource for nursing staff, assisting with problem-solving
• Support staff in efficiently utilizing resources to meet patient care needs
• Respond to emergency situations and provide guidance
• Identify and solve administrative or operational problems collaboratively
• Work closely with nursing and ancillary staff to resolve issues fairly and consistently

Requirements

Licensure & Certification:

• Active New York State RN License
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association)

Skills & Competencies:

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Progressive leadership experience: ability to develop, guide, motivate, coach, and mentor staff
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Membership in relevant professional organizations is preferred
