Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to oversee operations for an Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Unit in an acute care hospital setting. The Nurse Manager will be responsible for maintaining high standards of patient care, supporting staff development, and ensuring efficient unit operations. This role requires strong leadership skills, clinical expertise in psychiatric nursing, and the ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Promote and support the mission, vision, and values of the healthcare organization.
• Oversee daily operations of the adult inpatient psychiatric unit and ensure high standards of patient care.
• Conduct regular rounds to assess patient care requirements and ensure quality service delivery.
• Develop and implement staffing plans based on patient acuity, census, and available resources.
• Serve as a clinical resource for staff in resolving patient care and operational challenges.
• Support and guide nursing staff to ensure safe and effective patient care practices.
• Respond to emergency situations and assist the care team as necessary.
• Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective communication and care coordination.
• Assist in identifying and resolving administrative and operational issues within the unit.
• Foster a positive work environment that supports staff growth, mentorship, and professional development.
• Ensure adherence to evidence-based practices and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License – New York State
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• Minimum 3 years of recent acute care RN experience
• Leadership or Nurse Manager experience required, preferably in a psychiatric unit
• BLS (American Heart Association) required
• Additional certifications preferred: ACLS, PALS, CPI, MOAB, and De-escalation Training
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
