Description
Pride Health is seeking an Occupational Therapist (OT) to join a team in Hattiesburg, MS 39401. The Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for implementing physician-ordered Occupational Therapy services to help patients achieve the highest possible level of independence and safety.
Job Summary:
Working within an interdisciplinary healthcare team, the therapist evaluates patients, develops individualized treatment plans, and provides therapeutic interventions for pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric populations. The role requires strong clinical judgment, knowledge of growth and development, and the ability to tailor care based on each patient’s age, condition, and functional needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations using appropriate functional tests and measures.
- Analyze objective data, medical stability, activity restrictions, and social factors to identify functional deficits.
- Develop individualized treatment plans including short-term and long-term therapy goals.
- Implement physician-ordered occupational therapy interventions and monitor patient progress.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, safety, and rehabilitation strategies.
- Accurately document evaluations, treatment plans, and patient progress in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals across the continuum of care.
- Utilize critical thinking and clinical judgment in treatment planning and patient management.
- Apply physical agent modalities such as moist heat and paraffin as appropriate.
- Operate rehabilitation and monitoring equipment including blood pressure machines, pulse oximeters, wheelchairs, walkers, and other assistive devices.
Clinical Knowledge Requirements:
- Understanding of cardiopulmonary, musculoskeletal, nervous, and integumentary systems.
- Knowledge of age-specific patient care indicators and developmental principles.
- Ability to interpret physician orders and adapt therapy plans accordingly.
Required Education:
- Graduate of an accredited four-year Occupational Therapy program (Bachelor’s degree or higher).
Required Experience:
Candidates must meet one of the following:
- 1 year of full-time acute care Occupational Therapy experience, OR
- 2 years of experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or Inpatient Rehabilitation setting, OR
- 2 years of acute care experience when working less than full-time hours.
Additional Requirement:
- Proof of 2 hours of CVA-specific continuing education completed within the last 4 months.
