Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department

Job Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 Weeks (with potential for extension)
Specialty: Nursing

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced acute care environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, excellent assessment skills, and the ability to respond effectively to urgent and critical situations while working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Schedule

  • 36 hours per week
  • 12-hour rotating shifts (day/night rotation)
  • Must be available to work consecutive weekends as required
  • Holiday coverage may be required

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients presenting in the Emergency Department.
  • Perform rapid patient assessments, triage, and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and emergency procedures as ordered by physicians or advanced practice providers.
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond quickly to changes in status.
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and healthcare staff to coordinate patient care and ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, safety standards, and infection control guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active Hawaii RN License required prior to start of contract.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of Emergency Department nursing experience required.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.

Required Certifications

The following certifications may be required depending on department needs:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification
  • STABLE Program Certification
  • Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS)

Additional Information

  • Experience using Cerner EMR is preferred.
  • Holiday pay is applied only if the shift begins on the recognized holiday.
  • Holiday coverage may be required depending on scheduling needs.
