Job Title: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Grand Junction, CO - 81501
Shift Timing: Days
Shift: 3x12 Hours, 36 Hours per Week
Duration: 13 Weeks


Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides advanced-level respiratory care to patients to diagnose, evaluate, treat, manage, and control deficiencies or abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system as prescribed by the physician. This role also serves as a resource to CRT staff and may participate in special clinical projects or assignments based on departmental needs.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic testing procedures according to protocol.
  • Obtain arterial blood gases and monitor patient responses to therapy.
  • Initiate respiratory protocols and interventions based on patient assessments and clinical interpretation.
  • Administer respiratory medications safely and in a timely manner, evaluating patient response and adjusting care according to protocol.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Communicate patient status and treatment progress effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff.
  • Provide education to patients and families regarding respiratory care, health promotion, and self-care techniques.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Monitor and manage respiratory therapy supplies and equipment, reporting shortages or malfunctions.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs within the department.
  • Identify and report safety concerns and contribute ideas for improving patient satisfaction and care processes.
  • Serve as a mentor or resource to other respiratory care staff and promote professional development.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and collaborative patient care discussions.
  • Float to other departments as needed based on business requirements and competency level.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an NBRC-approved Respiratory Therapist program from an accredited institution.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Current Respiratory Therapy license in the state of practice.
  • AHA - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
