Job Summary

Registered Nurses (Med/Surg) provide age-specific, direct patient care to adult patients who are acutely ill with a variety of medical conditions, recovering from surgery, and/or requiring ongoing monitoring and treatment. The RN delivers care using the Nursing Process and follows Department of Nursing Standards and specialty-specific standards. The RN also assumes leadership responsibilities, including delegating tasks to other staff, and maintains compliance with applicable state/federal laws, regulations, and healthcare policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct, age-appropriate nursing care for Med/Surg patients
• Assist physicians with patient management and care planning
• Provide pre- and post-operative care as applicable
• Administer medications and treatments
• Complete assignments as directed by physicians and care team
• Delegate and oversee work assigned to other levels of staff as appropriate
• Maintain professionalism with patients, families, physicians, and hospital staff

Requirements / Qualifications

• 2–3 years of recent acute care experience (preferred/required for submission)
• Active state nursing license
• BLS certification
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS (or ENPC) must be active before contract start
  • If not active, a course must be booked by Clinical Orientation (start of assignment)
