Job Description:

This position requires rotational scheduling and on-call (night, weekend, and holiday) coverage upon successful completion of established didactic and clinical requirements, required exams, and the discretion of the OR SCN. Position requirements include, performing basic duties of a surgical technologist. Assist with positioning, surgical prepping, and draping of the surgical patient. Responsibilities include setting up an operating room before surgery and ensuring all needed equipment and instrumentation is available and in working condition for the scheduled surgical procedure. Surgical specialties include: General Surgery, Orthopedic, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Podiatry, Urology, etc. for adult and pediatric patients. 

NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS:

Must have completed and provide documentation of at least one of the following:

• Completion of an approved Surgical Technician training program accredited by the Association of Surgical Technologist (AST)
• On the Job training in a clinical healthcare setting or military specialty

Certification/Licensure:

· Must be certified within 6 months after 3-year qualification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA 3yr) – or Surgical Technologist Certification (CST), or
current certification from National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT-3yr 6240 hours) – Certified Tech in Surgery (TS-C)

· Must maintain a current valid certification of the following throughout employment:

o Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
