Pharmacist – Acute Care (Inpatient) | Contract Position

Shift: Evening Shift – 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM
Start Date: Approximately 3 weeks after offer completion (post-compliance)

Job Description

We are seeking experienced Pharmacists to join an acute inpatient hospital pharmacy team in Elmhurst, NY. This role supports medication management and pharmaceutical care across inpatient units, including Emergency Department and Psychiatric services, ensuring safe and effective medication use for hospitalized patients.

The ideal candidate will have strong inpatient experience, excellent clinical judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, verify, and dispense medications for inpatient populations
• Provide pharmaceutical support to acute care, Emergency Department, and psychiatric units
• Ensure accurate medication dosing, interactions, and therapy appropriateness
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and healthcare staff on medication management
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
• Utilize Epic electronic medical record system for documentation and order verification
• Support safe medication practices and patient care outcomes

Required Qualifications

• Valid New York State Pharmacist License (NYSED) – required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy
• Minimum 1 year of Pharmacist experience
• Acute inpatient pharmacy experience required (including ED and Psych exposure)

Schedule & Work Details

• Evening shift: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM
• Weekend coverage required (every weekend)
• Two consecutive weekdays off (Tuesday/Wednesday or Wednesday/Thursday)
• 40 hours per week

Training & Orientation

• 2-week training period
• Training schedule: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Includes Epic system training
