Description
Pride Health is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist - Traveler to support our client’s medical facility based in Grand Rapids MI 49503.
This is a 5+ month assignment with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!
Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist - Traveler
Location: Grand Rapids MI 49503
Schedule: Third Shift (Night Shift), Working 9pm - 6:30am (four, 9-hour shifts a week)There is a 8pm - 5:30am shift they could be scheduled too but we can be flexible if only 9pm - 6:30am works for them
Pay Range: $1700 - $2000 per week
Duration: 5 months+
We are looking for microbiology specimen processing, Gram stains, positive blood cultures, Antigen and PCR experience
ASCP certified.
### Job Summary
Performs laboratory testing and analysis on patient specimens to support diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention. Ensures high standards of quality, efficiency, and safety while carrying out assigned technical responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
### Essential Functions
* Perform laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures, quality assurance guidelines, and safety standards.
* Prepare reagents, maintain supplies, and manage inventory to support efficient operations and reduce waste.
* Exercise sound clinical judgment to prioritize workload, identify issues, troubleshoot test systems, and escalate concerns through appropriate channels when needed.
* Assist with review and revision of procedures and documentation to support accreditation and regulatory compliance (CAP, TJC, OSHA, etc.).
* Maintain clear, real-time communication with teammates and leadership regarding issues impacting patient care or department operations.
* Participate in staff meetings, projects, competency assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
### Education & Certification Requirements
* **Associate’s degree required**
* **MLT registry eligible or equivalent required at hire**
* **MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification required within one year of hire**
### Work Environment & Physical Requirements
* Fast-paced clinical laboratory setting
* Regular exposure to biohazardous materials, chemicals, and mechanical hazards
* Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs
