Registered Nurse (RN) – Flex Pool Nights (Contract)
Job Type: Contract
Position Urgency: Normal
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (1845–0715), 36 hours per week following orientation; hours not guaranteed
Duration: 13 weeks
Job Overview
We are seeking a versatile Flex Pool RN to provide patient care across various medical and surgical units. This role requires adaptability and strong clinical skills to support adult med-surg, step-down, and cardiovascular units. RNs in this position may float between units as needed to meet patient care demands.
Requirements
- Licensure: Must hold a current license to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Hawaii. Travelers without a Hawaii license must apply immediately upon acceptance of offer.
- Experience: 2–10 years of relevant nursing experience.
- Certifications: Required – BLS, ACLS. Preferred – PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC.
- EMR & Equipment: Experience with Meditech, Pyxis, wound vacs, and chest tubes preferred.
- Immunization: Documentation of immunity required; medical or religious exemptions will not be accepted.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care in assigned units, including adult med-surg, step-down, and cardiovascular care.
- Float between units based on staffing and patient needs.
- Administer medications, monitor patient conditions, and perform nursing procedures as needed.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to maintain patient safety and optimal outcomes.
- Document care accurately in the EMR system.
Unit Information
- Medical Unit: 77 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:6 (days/eves), 1:8 (nights)
- Surgical Acute/Laulima Unit: 18 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:6
- Cardiovascular Unit: 15 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:4
- Ratios may vary based on staffing or patient acuity.
Additional Information
- Orientation provided for each unit.
- Professional nursing attire required (clean scrubs).
- Holiday coverage may be required.
- Candidates must attend an employee health appointment prior to assignment.
