Job Summary
The Heart and Vascular Clinic at Valley View Hospital is seeking a high-caliber Cardiology Clinic RN to support their comprehensive cardiovascular program. This role is a blend of clinical triage, diagnostic testing support, and complex care coordination. Like other clinics in the Valley View system, you will play a vital role in the upcoming Athena to Epic EMR conversion scheduled for late April.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnostic Test Support: Start IVs and assist providers during Exercise Stress Tests and Tilt Table Tests, monitoring for hemodynamic stability and rhythm changes.
- Cardiac Assessment: Perform EKGs, manage heart monitoring equipment (Holter/Event monitors), and triage urgent patient concerns over the phone or in person.
- Care Coordination: Act as a liaison between patients and cardiologists to manage medication titration, follow-up testing, and surgical referrals.
- Patient Education: Provide in-depth education on cardiac conditions (CAD, A-Fib, CHF), anticoagulation therapy, and lifestyle modifications.
- Clinical Triage: Assess symptoms such as chest pain, palpitations, or shortness of breath, determining the appropriate level of care.
- EMR Management: Document all care in Athena, transitioning to Epic in late April.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of RN experience specifically in a Cardiology Clinic/Ambulatory setting.
- Technical Skills: Experience with both Athena and Epic is required to facilitate the EMR conversion.
- Licensure: Active Colorado (CO) RN License (DORA) in good standing.
- Certifications (AHA Only):
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – Required.
- Clinical Proficiency: Expert skills in IV starts and EKG interpretation are mandatory.
Unit & Facility Details
- Address: Glenwood Springs, CO 81601.
- Schedule: Consistent Monday–Friday day shifts. No weekends, call, or holidays.
- EMR Note: High priority for candidates comfortable with EMR transitions.
Financial & Logistics Notes
- Radius Rule: Permanent address must be at least 75 miles away from the facility.
- Submission Materials: Must include Resume, Skills Sheet, Nursys verification, and AHA BLS/ACLS cards.
Clinical Spotlight: The Cardiology Care Coordinator
In a specialized cardiology clinic, the RN is often the first line of defense for patients with chronic heart disease. Your expertise in Tilt Table Testing—used to evaluate the cause of unexplained fainting (syncope)—requires a keen understanding of the autonomic nervous system and rapid pharmacological intervention if needed.
Glenwood Springs offers an incredible lifestyle for those who love the mountains, from world-famous hot springs to extensive biking trails.
