Description
Respiratory Therapist
● About Facility:
o 6965 Fairview Rd., Charlotte, NC 28211
o 16 bed free standing emergency department
o No Trauma Designation, licensed under CMC Main
o Facility offers 24/7 on-site X-ray, CT, and Ultrasound services
o Limited STAT Outpatient imaging is also provided at this location, weekdays only, max of 6 patients/day
o Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
● Unit Information:
o Beds: 16 beds
▪ Census? Average patients/day? Around 70 patients per day
o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years RT experience
o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes
● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o Mostly adults but could see some peds
o CHF, COPD, flu, pneumonia, COVID, acute/chronic respiratory failure, critical patients, trauma stabilization
● Required License, National Certification, Certs:
o BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP
o RRT
o NC Licensure
● Skills required:
o Stabilizing critical and trauma patients, caring for peds on occasion, assisting with intubations, caring for intubated patients, managing NIV like bipap/cpap, breathing treatments, obtain EKGS (shared with nursing)
o Assist with tasks like transporting/ambulating patients, stocking linens, stocking carts, etc.
o Must be comfortable working independently as will often be the solo RT
● Support within the Department:
o ER Supervisor available
o Charge RN – without patient assignment
o Paramedic in house, 1p-1a
o RT, 24/7 in house
o Imaging – DX/CT and US
o Staffing:
▪ Days: Start with (4) RNs at 0700; (2) RNs come in at 1100, (1) RN comes in at1500
▪ Nights: (4) RNs report at 1900 for 12 hr shift
● Technology/Equipment:
o EMR: EPIC
o Med dispensing: Omnicell
o Unit specific equipment: Hamilton C1 (transport), Philips bipap/c-pap, Airvo 2 highflow,
● Floating: If yes, where?
o None
● Orientation (facility and unit):
o NEO
o Remainder of first week will be oriented (12h shifts). All orientation will take place during day shift hours
● Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation: No rotation, may be assigned an occasional Friday or Sunday, but there is a staff Weekend RT that works most weekends.
o On call? No
o Holiday Expectations: Travelers could work 75% of holidays in contract
o Approval of RTO: ok to approve up to 7 days, if missing a full week of work (Sunday-Saturday) or unable to work 36h in a work week, send to manager for approval
o Shift times: 0700-1900, 1900-0700
o Schedule cycle: 6-week increments. Cannot guarantee block scheduling
