Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Behavioral Health House Supervisor

Location: Eagleville, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Three to four 12-hour night shifts per week (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Must work 3 out of 6 major holidays
Call/Standby: None
Dress Code: Navy scrubs with white or navy undershirts; tattoos must be covered; no artificial nails


Facility & Patient Population Overview

  • Behavioral Health and Addiction treatment setting with multiple units including locked acute psych units, medical detox units, and residential rehab.
  • Patient population includes individuals with co-occurring mental health and addiction disorders, IV drug abuse, and some medically complex patients (e.g., diabetics, wound care, CPAP users).
  • Units serve a largely indigent population with low violence levels; patients who do not comply with rules are removed from the facility.
  • Closest emergency room is 2 hours away; facility provides BLS only.

Units Covered

  • Long Term Care Psych Unit: Older adults (55+), depression, personality disorders, schizophrenia; average stay 10-14 days.
  • Psych Locked Unit: Addiction and psychiatric patients, some on 72-hour holds or jail referrals; average stay 10-14 days.
  • Medical PICC/Detox Units: IV treatments, medication-assisted treatment (Suboxone, Methadone); average stay 5-7 days.
  • Residential Rehab Unit: Detox and residential services.

Job Duties

  • Admissions (no overnight admissions)
  • Medication administration (patients come to the desk)
  • Patient assessments
  • Leading groups focused mainly on medication education
  • Assisting with meals delivery (done by techs)
  • Communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and addiction counselors
  • Charge nurse responsibilities covering the entire campus 24/7

Staffing & Ratios

  • No fixed nurse-to-patient ratios; staffing based on patient acuity
  • Typically 1 RN (preferably 2) and 1-2 psychiatric technicians per unit
  • Security available 24/7
  • Restraint team available; physical restraints used if necessary with required competencies completed during orientation

Orientation & Training

  • 3 days hospital orientation plus additional unit-specific orientation until fully oriented on all units
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training provided during orientation
  • Restraint competencies and classroom sign-off required

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in a similar acute behavioral health or residential rehab setting (higher experience requirement applies)
  • Current Pennsylvania RN license
  • BLS (AHA) certification required
  • ACLS (AHA) certification required
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training (provided during orientation)
  • IV experience required (comfortable with IV treatments and medication-assisted therapies such as Suboxone and Methadone)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Must be comfortable working with behavioral health and addiction patients in a low-violence but potentially high-acuity environment

Additional Requirements & Notes

  • COVID-19 vaccination and boosters required (medical exemptions only with documentation)
  • Must be able to work every other weekend and 3 out of 6 major holidays
  • No call or standby required
  • Floating between acute and rehab units possible, with rehab considered less intensive
  • Professionalism and active engagement expected; facility monitors staff performance closely
  • Emphasis on compassion, communication, and removing stigma around mental health and addiction
