Description
RN Surgery Day Shift Part time role
Surgical nurses play a crucial role in the healthcare system by providing specialized care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. Their duties and responsibilities include:
- Preparing patients for surgery: Ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are sterilized and ready.
- Assisting the surgical team: Providing instruments, sutures, and other necessary items.
- Monitoring patients' vital signs: Before, during, and after surgery to ensure their safety.
- Providing emotional support: Informing patients and their families about the surgery and recovery process.
- Maintaining accurate patient records: Including surgical reports and postoperative care documentation.
- Administering medications and anesthesia: As directed by the surgical team.
- Adhering to infection control protocols: To prevent contamination and promote patient safety.
- Coordinating with other healthcare professionals: To provide comprehensive patient care.
- Participating in ongoing education and training: To stay current with medical and surgical advancements.
- Supervising and mentoring junior nurses: Within the surgical team.
- Assisting with patient positioning and draping: To ensure optimal access and minimize the risk of injury.
🔹 Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s or Diploma in Nursing (Bachelor’s preferred).
- Licensure/Certification:
- RN (Single State) or RN-COMPACT (Multi-state Compact)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
