🔹 Job Summary – PCU/Tele Travel RN 

💉 COVID Requirement

• Mandatory vaccination:
  • 2 doses (Moderna/Pfizer) OR
  • 1 dose (J&J)
• Medical/Religious exemptions allowed (approval required via council)

🏥 Unit Details – PCU / Tele

• Units:
  • 2nd Floor → 20 beds (private rooms)
  • 6th Floor → 22 beds (mixed)
• Current: Both floors = Tele-level acuity
• Future: 2nd floor → Stepdown (higher acuity)

🩺 Patient Types / Cases

• NSTEMI, post-STEMI (after ICU)
• Pre/Post cardiac cath
• Active chest pain
• Pacemakers
• Dialysis (training provided)
• Some overflow: Ortho / Oncology

📋 Certifications & Requirements

• Required: BLS & ACLS
• First-time travelers accepted

👩‍⚕️ Staffing & Ratios

• Ratio: 1:5 (Day & Night)
• PCTs: Ideally 3 per floor (can drop to 1)
• Charge Nurse:
  • May take full assignment
  • Sometimes shared between floors

🖥️ Systems & Equipment

• EMR: EPIC
• Monitoring: Phillips cardiac monitors
• Nurses:
  • Read strips every 4 hours
  • Document in EPIC

💉 Drips & Equipment

• Drips: Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Heparin, Nitro, etc.
• No titration currently (future plan for Stepdown)
• Respiratory:
  • BiPAP, CPAP, High Flow (managed by RT)

🏥 Support Staff

• Hospitalist: 24/7 in-house
• RT: 24/7
• Pharmacy: 24/7 (Omnicell)
• ❌ No IV Team

🕒 Schedule Details

• Shift: 12 hrs (7–7:30)
• Weekend: Every other weekend
  • Days: Sat/Sun
  • Nights: Fri/Sat
• Holiday: As per unit needs
• Block scheduling: Allowed (if in contract)

👕 Dress Code

• Scrubs: Navy blue
• Jacket: Navy or White
• Undershirt: Navy/White
• Hair: Natural colors only
• Tattoos: Must be covered if inappropriate

🔄 Floating & Orientation

• Floating: Rare (may go to Tele/Med-Surg/Ortho overflow)
• Orientation: 1–2 days (based on experience)
