Description
ICU Registered Nurse (RN) | Small Unit | High-Acuity Experience
We are seeking a highly skilled ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join a close-knit, 4-bed ICU unit delivering critical care to a diverse patient population. This role is ideal for nurses who thrive in a hands-on, autonomous environment while maintaining strong teamwork and clinical excellence.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
- 4-bed ICU – Smaller unit with focused, high-quality patient care
- Strong nurse-to-patient ratios (1:2, max 1:3)
- Work with a wide range of critical care cases including sepsis, DKA, respiratory failure, and cardiac conditions
- Utilize advanced ICU skills including vent management, titratable drips, arterial lines, and CVP monitoring
- Opportunity to expand experience by floating to MS or ER (1:1 care)
- Quick onboarding
Patient Population
- Adult ICU patients
- Common diagnoses: DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac rhythm issues, detox
Key Responsibilities
- Manage critically ill patients with high acuity needs
- Titrate ICU drips and monitor patient responses
- Interpret telemetry independently
- Provide care across respiratory support levels (nasal cannula → ventilator)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams while maintaining autonomy
- Ensure safe, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment
Scheduling & Expectations
- Shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM / 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Weekend & holiday coverage based on unit needs
- Floating required to Med-Surg or ER (1:1 assignments)
Requirements
- Certifications Required:
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
- TNCC / TCAR / or trauma experience required
- Strong ICU experience with drips, vents, and telemetry interpretation
- Ability to work independently in a low-support, high-responsibility environment
Low Bed Count (4-Bed ICU) → More controlled, less chaotic environment
Strong Ratios – 1:2 (up to 1:3 based on acuity)
High Skill Utilization – Drips, vents, tele interpretation, arterial lines, CVP
Broad ICU Exposure – DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac, detox
Fast Orientation – Only 3 shifts → Quick start = faster pay
Variety in Practice – ICU + potential ER/MS exposure (great for skill building)
