Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Inpatient Wound & Ostomy

Location: Tacoma, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Job Overview

• Provide inpatient wound care management and coordination.
• Manage wound care consults and recommendations according to established standards and timelines.
• Document care and assist with billing and discharge for supplies.
• Identify, assess, and prevent wound-related complications.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
• Use phone for photo documentation.
• Float to multiple hospital units as needed (planned in advance).
• Work primarily Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
• No weekend, holiday, call, or standby requirements.

Patient Care Details

• Treat 5 to 15 patients per day, including new consults.
• Common wound types include ostomies, draining wounds, fistulas (about 25%), pressure ulcers, vascular, arterial, diabetic ulcerations, and skin conditions related to incontinence, surgery, trauma, or altered continence.
• Use of wound vacs (Smith and Nephew).

Orientation & Training

• Orientation provided across multiple hospital units with a preceptor.
• Documentation education included.

Required Qualifications

• Current Washington State RN license.
• BLS Certification.
• Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON).
• Wound Care Certified (WCC) via NAWCO preferred.
• No prior travel experience required.

Additional Information

• Float to other hospital units as needed.
• No specific dress code or scrub color preference.
• Work schedule may include 4/10 day shifts.
