RN - MedSurg/Tele
Concord, NC
13 weeks
Shift - Nights 7p-7a
Orientation (facility and unit):
o NEO
o 2 days departmental
● Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation: every other
o No call
o Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
o RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
o Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks

JOB DESCRIPTION
● About Facility:
o 920 Church St N, Concord, NC 28025
o 457 licensed beds
o Trauma Level III
o Teaching Hospital
o Chest Pain Center
o Stroke Center of Excellence
o Bariatric Center of Excellence
o Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
● Unit Information:
o Beds: 32
o Minimum Years of Experience required? 18 months Med/Tele RN experience
o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes
● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o Small bowel obstructions, general surgery (colectomy, colon/small bowel resections, nephrectomy, hysterectomy, mastectomy, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repairs, splenectomy, thyroidectomy), kidney stones, pneumothorax, bariatric surgery, rib fractures, hip fractures, joint replacements, cellulitis
● Patient Ratios:
o RN: 1:4-6; surge times could be 1:7-8
● Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
o BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
● Skills required:
o trach chare, chest tube management, PIV starts, NG tubes, ostomy care, drains, wound care, continuous bladder irrigation, tube feeds, cardiac rhythm interpretation
● Support within the Department:
o CNA? Duties? Yes, NA+ 4
o No receptionist
o Charge nurse, 24/7
o Phlebotomy, 24/7 – peripheral blood draws
o IV/VAT Team
o Resource Nurse – as staffing allows
o RT 24/7
o Hospitalist 24/7
o Intensivist 24/7
o Telemetry monitoring/tech? yes - remote
● Technology/Equipment:
o EMR: EPIC
o IV Pump: Client Alaris
o Med dispensing: Omnicell
o Monitors: Masimo, remote tele
● Floating:
o Within region and scope of practice
o Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
▪ Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises
▪ If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
