🔹 SICU RN – Job Summary (2E Surgical ICU)

📍 Unit Details

• 16 beds + 2 procedural beds
• Tertiary care center (high-acuity patients)

👩‍⚕️ Patient Ratios

• 1:2 standard
• 1:1 high-acuity (CRRT, post-op hearts, MTP, OPO)
• 1:3 (med-surg/floor status)

🩺 Patient Types / Cases

• Cardiovascular surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, AAA)
• Trauma (Level 2)
• NSTEMI / STEMI
• Vascular, neuro, ortho, ENT, general surgery
• Post-op ICU patients

✅ Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Preferred: TNCC

💡 Must-Have Experience

• High-acuity ICU experience
• Cardiac/post-op surgical patients
• Drip titration required

➕ Preferred Skills (Not Mandatory)

• CRRT
• IABP
• Impella
• ECMO

💉 Drips / Equipment

• Common drips: Epi, Norepi, Propofol, Precedex, Vaso, Dobutamine, Heparin, Insulin, Dopamine, Neo, Milrinone
• Full respiratory support available: vents, BiPAP, Vapotherm

👨‍⚕️ Support & Staffing

• Intensivist in-house 24/7
• RT available 24/7
• Charge nurse every shift (may take patients if needed)
• House Supervisor 24/7
• 1 NA (day shift only)

📊 Monitoring

• No tele techs
• RNs monitor & document own telemetry
• GE monitors

⏰ Schedule & Requirements

• Shifts: 7:00–19:30 / 19:00–07:30
• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday
• Self-scheduling (agency scheduled as per unit needs)

🔄 Floating

• May float to MICU
• If low census → may float as patient observer

👕 Dress Code

• No specific color (clean & professional)

📚 Orientation

• 1 day onboarding + CBT
• 2 unit orientation shifts
• Skills checklist required
