Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, 11:00 AM – 9:30 PM
- Call Requirement: 90-120 hours of call over a 6-week schedule
- First Time Travelers: Accepted if they have Level 1 Trauma experience
- Specialty: Surgical Services
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in Level 1 Trauma Center, Vascular, Thoracic surgery cases
- Key Surgical Procedures Involved:
- Receiving pump lines from perfusion and preparing for cannulation
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair
- Atherectomy
- Atrial Septal Defect Repair
- Cardiomyoplasty
- Carotid Endarterectomy
- Coronary Artery Bypass Graft
- Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR)
- Femoral Popliteal Bypass Graft
- Laparoscopic Cardiac Surgery
- Mitral Valve Replacement
- Pericardial Window
- Robotic Assisted Cardiac Surgery
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
- Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TEVAR)
- Ventricular Assist Device (VAD)
- Heart & Lung Transplant
- Valve Replacement
- Aortic Dissection
Requirements/Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a CVOR Technologist
- CVOR Technologist experience within the last year
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) certification
- Experience receiving pump lines and preparing them for cannulation
- Experience with Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair
- Experience with Atherectomy
- Experience with Atrial Septal Defect Repair
- Experience with Cardiomyoplasty
- Experience with Carotid Endarterectomy
- Experience with Coronary Artery Bypass Graft
- Experience with Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR) / Endovascular Aortic Repair
Required Certifications
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
- NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
Important Notes
- Due to state regulations effective 11/30/2024, Indiana RNs are restricted from starting new contracts at this facility after 9/9/2024, except for Perioperative/OR RNs, Allied Health, and Ambulatory RNs (including Endoscopy, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS). These exempt travelers may work past the 11/30 deadline.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks including 7 years of residence/work history, SSN trace, county and statewide criminal checks, national sex offender registry, and education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Official Transcript or Diploma verifying education
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted (if applicable)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA only (if applicable)
- Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) (if applicable)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Color Blind Testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent)
- Unit Competency Exam
- Physical Exam within 12 months of start
- Fit Mask Test within 12 months of start (specific respirators approved)
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (strongly recommended)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season
- Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with appropriate supervisory titles
- Current Employment Application with full work history and explanations for gaps
- Skills Checklist within 12 months, updated annually
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and compliance forms prior to start
Additional Requirements
- Candidates must provide 2-3 days of interview availability when submitting
- On-site Fit Testing is limited and only available as a last resort
- Certain mandatory online training modules must be completed prior to orientation (for applicable roles)
Summary
This is a travel contract opportunity for a CVOR Tech with at least 2 years of experience in Level 1 Trauma Center surgical services, including vascular and thoracic cases. The role requires multiple certifications and compliance with extensive health and background documentation. First-time travelers are welcome if they have the required trauma experience. The position includes a call schedule and a 4x10 shift pattern.
