JOB DESCRIPTION
Ultrasound Technologist
● About Facility:
o Free standing emergency department
▪ 10 bed ED
o No Trauma Designation, licensed under Advocate SE Pineville.
o We offer 24/7 on-site X-ray, CT, and Ultrasound services.
o New Facility - Ballantyne just opened in December 2024.
o Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
● Department Information:
o Average of 15 ED visits per day
o Department performs an average of 5 studies/day.
o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years
o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes
● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o ED patients only
● Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
o Certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (S) required.
o BLS
● Skills required:
o General ED US imaging
o Ability/willingness to perform the below skills outside of US imaging (can be taught during orientation):
▪ General vitals
▪ Sitter
▪ EKG
o Are expected to help room patients, get vital signs, line and lab patients, sit for some psych patients if needed when not performing radiology tasks
o Assist DX/CT with moving patients, transporting patients if busy
● Support within the Department:
o Staff from other specialties/modalities – Teamwork expected
● Technology/Equipment:
o EMR: EPIC
o RIS: Epic Radiant
o PACS: Philips iSite
o Department specific Equipment:
▪ Siemens Sequoia's
▪ Trophon
● Floating: If yes, where?
o Yes, night shift sonographer supports ultrasound needs at both Ballantyne FSED and Providence FSED facilities.
● Orientation (facility and unit):
o Administrative onboarding (Epic, eLearnings, policy review, etc.) – 1 day
o 2 days to 1 week departmental (as needed)
● Other notes:
o Scrub Color: Black
o Parking: Surface lot available at no cost
