DESCRIPTION:
Job Title: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) – Float Pool
Location: Overland Park, KS 66213-1324
Shift: 3*12, Nights
Patient Ratio:
1:5
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 1–2 years of recent RN experience required
- First-time travelers accepted
Floating Requirements:
- This is a Float Pool position with no designated home unit
- Clinicians will float between approximately five Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU units
- May also float to other metro campuses as needed within scope of practice
Schedule Requirements:
- Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts within a 6-week scheduling period (combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
- Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments may be required based on unit needs
Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
Preferred Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
Required Clinical Skills:
- Cardiac rhythm monitoring and telemetry interpretation
- Recognition and management of dysrhythmias
- Emergency response and rapid patient assessment
- Experience in MS/Tele, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown units
- Care of patients with complex conditions such as:
- Sepsis
- Renal failure
- Atrial fibrillation (AFIB)
- Gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB)
- Stroke
- COVID-19
- Behavioral or safety concerns (ETOH withdrawal, SI)
- Wound care management
- Pre/Post Cardiac Catheterization care
Preferred Skills:
- Sheath removal following cardiac catheterization
- Feeding tube care and management
- IV therapy and phlebotomy skills, including:
- Accessing and managing implanted ports
- Blood product administration
- Central line care and management
